Response to the comments on 'Radiofrequency electromagnetic fields and some cancers of unknown etiology: An ecological study' by J. Gonzalez-Rubio, E. Arribas, R. Ramirez-Vazquez and A. Najera. Science of the Total Environment 599-600 (2017) 834-843

This is a reply to the Comment by Mortazavi et al. on our recently published work (Gonzalez-Rubio et al., 2017). First of all, the authors of "Radiofrequency electromagnetic fields and some cancers of unknown etiology: An ecological study" greatly appreciate the comments of Mortazavi et al. Mortazavi et al. begin by affirming that the authors confirm that the exposure to radiofrequency electromagnetic fields (RF-EMF) shows little correlation with the incidence of the three tumors which were studied. This is true however their comment does not mention the first phase of the study, which consisted in the search for spatial clusters, concluding that the tumors analyzed in the city of Albacete are random from a spatial point of view. The fact that the geographical grouping can lead to the identification of the cause is well founded and is the basis of modern epidemiology (Al-Chalabi and Hardiman, 2013).
