Sosei, founded in 1990, is a Japanese product-based biopharmaceutical company which combines a low risk proven brokerage and technology transfer business with research projects of its own. The company has carried out virtual R&D and, in a licensing brokerage capacity, assisted pharmaceutical and biotech companies in commercial ventures bridging Japan and the West. During its 10-year life, the company has secured a pipeline of 'safety-proven' drugs from Japanese companies which it intends to re-profile against a new set of disease indications through collaboration with Western biotech companies in possession of efficient profiling technology. In this respect, the company has already identified several potentially novel uses for certain compounds which it has acquired from Japanese companies and these projects are under the process of further validation.
