KAST and Photocatalyst

摘要

Established in 1989, the Kanagawa Academy of Science and Technology (KAST) was the first institution of its kind in Japan. Its goal is to contribute to cultural and industrial developments in the Kanagawa prefecture by supporting forefront research, graduate-level education for adults, and the promotion and dissemination of science and technology. Recently, the recognition of the social importance of research and development is increasing, and large-scale measures such as the Science and Technology Basic Plan have been implemented at governmental level. At local area level also, independent activities that make practical use of the features of an area are being encouraged. KAST has been promoting such policies since the early days of its formation.
