100 years have passed since the Wright Brothers' first manned flight in human history in 1903, and 42 years have elapsed since the Russian cosmonaut Gagarin's first manned space flight in 1961. In the time being, over 400 human beings have experienced space flight, and have left their footprints on the moon 380,000 kilometers away. Today, a space station is being built to enable extended stays in space. Following the Mir of Russia, the International Space Station constructed by 15 nations including Japan, has a permanent crew of 3 astronauts.
