CO_2 separation and storage technologies and CO_2 immobilization technologies are viewed as indispensable technologies in terms of worldwide CO_2 reduction measures in the future. We spoke with Dr. Sohei Shimada of the Department of Environment Systems at the University of Tokyo Graduate School about the present situation in Japan and technologies with good prospects for the future.
