Optical Services and Optical Fiber Cable Introduction

On the occasion of this NTT Optical Communication Symposium. I would like to explain optical cable access systems and the introduction of broadband services using optical cables from the viewpoint of the deployment of multimedia services. As all of you may already know, optical cables have already been introduced extensively in access systems and it is expected that any broadband demands will be capable of being dealt with instantaneously in a few years time. Then, how will optical services which use optical cables develop in the future? Although at the present time likely developments cannot be forecast exactly, I would like to report in this speech on the present strategy of NTT.
