The Whole and the Parts: The Early Development of Marx's Theory of the Distribution of Surplus-Value in the Grundrisse

I think it should be concluded from this investigation that, even though there are only these few brief comments and discussions about the general rate of profit and the distribution of surplus-value in the Grundrisse, Marx was already clear at this early stage of the development of his theory about the following methodological aspects of his theory of capital: 1. The theory of capital would be divided into two main parts: capital in general and competition. 2. The main question analyzed at the level of abstraction of capital in general is the production of surplus-value (or the determination of the total amount of surplus-value), and the main question analyzed at the level of abstraction of competition is the distribution of surplus-value (or the division of the total surplus-value into individual parts).
