The Task My Generation Faced (1936-1945)

My generation's task was to eradicate fascism, dictatorships of the landowners, the wealthy, the military and religious leaders. In many countries labor and farm leaders were arrested, jailed, beaten and murdered. Between 1922 and 1931 fascism arose in Italy, Greece, Spain, Lithuania, Italy, Poland, Portugal and Yugoslavia. In 1931, the King left Spain and the country became a republic. In the United States, students held the first National Student Congress against War and Fascism in Chicago in late 1932. On February 27, 1933, Nazis blamed the communists for burning down the Reichstag building, and a month later President Hinden-burg allowed Hitler to become dictator.
