EVALUATING THE EVOLUTION OF HEALTH POLICY IN INDIA

In India, the British colonial ruler introduced health policy, which was 'minimalist' in nature. Colonial rulers neglected the public health and emphasised on curative measures in health services. Thus people were deprived of public health and health services. But the question is whether any significant change has been made after the independence of India in 1947 or the independent government of India has been continuing the colonial legacy in health sector? This question is very pertinent particularly in the present global crisis in public health caused by the Covid 19. This article will try to probe in this area while tracing the evolution of government health policy in India.
