THE NATIONAL CENTRE OF EXPERIMENTAL MINERALOGY AND PETROLOGY

Not far from the main campus of the University of Allahabad, a building, under the shadow of mango-groves, and unnoticed by commoners, shelters a group of enthusiastic geologists - working hard to understand the dynamic processes within the earth's mantle by simulation. For this a high pressure - temperature laboratory has been set up; the nucleus of the National Centre of Experimental Mineralogy and Petrology (NCEMP), which was established in 1995 under the University of Allahabad and is the Centre of Excellence in the country. The Centre is devoted fully to conduct research on different physico-chemical and dynamic processes in the earth's interior.
