The century-long controversy on the correct form of momentum of light in a material medium arises due to Abraham's and Minkowski's rival expressions. A natural question comes whether the momentum carried by an electromagnetic field is increased or decreased by the presence of a refractive medium. Many interesting approaches, both the theoretical and experimental, with compelling arguments are put forward over the years to get rid of the dilemma. The main focus of the article is to present a review, since inception, on the salient opinions, solutions, and experimental demonstrations proposed by physicists related to the puzzle.
