Novelty of Using Chlorophyll a Concentration to Determine the Aquatic Health of Indian Sundarban

In order to assess aquatic health of Indian Sundarbans, a comparative account of seasonal change in nutrients and chlorophyll a level in three different riverines covering a wide area were made. The level of Nitrogen and Phosphorus were found to be highly fluctuating over the season, while the level of Chlorophyll a remained constant and high throughout the year. Accounting Chlorophyll a level is proposed to obtain a better picture of aquatic health than measuring the nutrient levels.
