As the title suggests, this volume of the "Images of Aviation" series is focused on the renowned Doolittle Raid on Japan in April of 1942. Perfectly timed to coincide with the release of the Airfix kit based on B-25's used on the raid, this book presents an interesting and worthy research investment as it covers not only the training and work up to the raid, and the raid itself, but the individual crews, as well as their subsequent escape into China and the issues following on from this. A pleasant diversion is the coverage given to the 1992 re-enactment of the achievement of flying a B-25 from a carrier deck. As with all the titles in the series, the book is well illustrated with one hundred and forty photographs and diagrams which are well captioned and compliment the text well. As a source of inspiration for a Doolittle build this book will be hard to beat.
