KBR buys SGT to solidify footing in space and benefit from big NASA contract

US engineering and construction firm KBR (NYSE:KBR) has purchased mission-critical IT provider Stinger Ghaffarian Technologies (SGT) for US$335m, marking its third space-related acquisition to broaden its footprint in the industry. NASA had recently awarded SGT a US$1.12bn mission systems operations contract, comprising a two-year base with three consecutive two-year options. SGT provides technology solutions, engineering services, mission operations, scientific and IT software solutions to space programmes, including commercial, military and civil space.
