Cost efficiencies trigger Boeing's first satellite propulsion startup investment

Cost savings, efficiency and fuel nontoxicity have propelled Boeing (NYSE:BA) to make its first investment in a satellite propulsion startup. Boeings HorizonX Ventures led a US$3m bridge round with participation from Gettylab in US-based Accion Systems, which is developing electric propulsion technology for smallsats. It comes as space entrepreneur Mikhail Kokorich announces a US-based space propulsion-related company called Momentus Space. It provides water-powered transportation services for large and small spacecraft to extend the life of missions.
