This issue contains five articles that address the outsourcing impact on firm value, managing internal consulting units, supply chain manager competencies, employee self-reinforcement process, and outsourcing in higher education.Pouder, Cantrell, and Daly, in the first article, report on the impact of outsourcing on firm value. They maintain that stock prices can benefit if announcements that cite the rationale for outsourcing mention both cost reduction and strategic motives. Firm value can increase further when the outsourcing announcement also states a desire to focus on core competencies.
