In the days when Rome was a republic, while the Senate passed laws it was at the Forum, both a public meeting place and the prime debating chamber of a city, where issues of the day were discussed by leading figures, and the citizens were able to judge the views of these orators so as to draw their own conclusions. Now, " Safety at Sea International" is bringing the Forum back to serve the needs of the marine industry. We have put together a panel of experts and informed commentators from around the world who, each month, will debate a topic that is of immediate concern to the industry. Our panel represents a cross section of the many disciplines that make up shipping and its associated industries - each member is well known and highly respected in his particular field. We have contributors from flag states, classification societies, shipowning organisations, protection and indemnity clubs, the law, manufacturing and many other fields. The topics for discussion will be equally diverse yet always relevant. Whether dealing with trends in vessel design, such as double hulls, or changes in international law etc, the Forum's experts will open up the debate on these subjects and offer food for thought to all concerned with maritime safety.
