The International Development and Environmental Shipping School (IDESS) in the Philippines is an offshoot of the Scandinavian establishment set up in Norway and Sweden in 1989. The Philippines branch followed in 1991. It is an ISO 9001:2000 certified company and has earned a reputation for quality and innovation. The organisation provides a broad range of training services, principally aimed at meeting the needs of the tanker, offshore oil and gas industries and was prompted by the number of Scandinavian shipowners who use Filipino crews.
