Allan Graveson is passionate about shipping and all it encompasses. But then he is passionate about most things... even pilchards. This, coupled with his eagerness to speak his mind, is probably one of the reasons he is senior national secretary at seafarers' union, Nautilus UK. Allan's attachment to the sea, which was to set him on his adult career, began at an early age. Born in Kendal, in the Lake District of northwest England, he was often taken to visit relatives in the port cities of Plymouth and Liverpool.
