At its annual general meeting in March the International Maritime Employers' Committee (IMEC) announced that in future it would concentrate on training and recruitment initiatives as much as on its existing role as a wage negotiator.The decision was underlined by the return home of the first batch of Filipino maritime college lecturers to attend a new training course developed by IMEC and Warsash Maritime Academy. The project, aimed at enhancing the lecturers' skills to train their country's officer candidates, is being funded by the International Maritime Training Trust (IMTT).
