Heavy weather sinks Sea Angel

Rescuers from Taiwan's National Airborne Service Corps, coastguard and rescue organisations managed to save 11 crew members of a Thailand-flagged general cargo vessel after their ship got into difficulties and sank off Penghu Island, southern Taiwan on 26 January. The 6,529gt Sea Angel was struck by large waves in the Taiwan Strait 20nm off Yunlin, reports said. A passing freighter apparently alerted local Taiwanese authorities to the ship's plight and a rescue operation was launched.
