SAMTRA searching for increased cadet berths

A project to train South African seafarers on the international fleet began in March when the first two cadets sponsored by the South African Maritime Safety Authority (SAMSA) joined a vessel operated by Columbia Ship Management. The number of cadets may yet be limited by a lack of berths, however, and ship managers and owners are being asked to consider providing berths for the scheme.
