Queensland's coastal piloting is being investigated in reaction to a tanker grounding that took place two year ago. The Australian Transport Safety Bureau announced the inquiry and said it needs to "address information that came to light" since the 7 February 2009 grounding of the Cido tanker Atlantic Blue in the Torres Strait. The bureau found that Atlantic Blue's bridge team - including the compulsory pilot -had not effectively monitored the ship's progress.
