It is easy to find discrepancies in statutory certificates, manning documents or plans, so ensure that:1. the oil record books have no errors. This is especially relevant given recent changes and I MO instructions 2. there are concise and up-to-date emergency towing arrangements in place and that the booklet is in accordance with MSC.1/Circ.1255 Guidelines for owners/operators on preparing emergency towing procedures 3.regular records are maintained for segregated ballast tank inspections 4. tanker safety endorsements are applied to cargo officer's certificates of competency 5. copies of in-date OCIMF publications are held on board 6. all Marpol Annex VI certificates, approvals, record books and log books are on board and up to date
