The Accessibility for Shipping, Efficiency Advantages and Sustainability (ACCSEAS) project is a three-year collaboration between 13 lighthouse authorities whose jurisdictions cover the North Sea region. Led by the British and Irish authorities, the project began in April 2012 and is scheduled to be completed by February 2015. Given the nature of North Sea marine traffic, with its mix of leisure, passenger, coastal, fishing, and cargo vessels, all operating within a confined area containing significant bottlenecks, it is clear that ACCSEAS is a perfect test bed for the development of e-navigation.
