Net-Logic data bridge products

UK manufacturer Net-Logic has launched a product to assist with installation and service engineering on the bridge. The Data Bridge Control Software and its associated hardware, the Data Switch, were developed over several months following an idea of Net-Logic's technical director, Matthew Wright.Wright was seeking to solve the problem of interface between various types of electronic navigational equipment, such as VDRs and autopilots, which need to be incorporated within a vessel's BNWAS. This is complicated, as vessels are often fitted with equipment from different manufacturers and that may also be of varying ages if upgrades and refits have been carried out. According to Wright, in practice this meant "engineers had constant issues trying to link up various pieces of equipment, and this was slow-ing installation and putting pressure on technical support, ultimately meaning that people were paying more for the solution."
