A UK-based VDR supplier has introduced a bespoke upgrade solution for customers. It should make VDR replacement easier, writes Martin Watts. Selex Elsag, owned by Italian company Finmeccanica, told SAS it has recently introduced replacement solutions that meet both the new regulatory requirements and individual ship operators' specifications. The company's involvement with VDR dates back to the original call for their introduction following the loss of Herald of Free Enterprise in 1987.
