Raytheon Anschutz introduces bolt-on ECDIS system

In the next few months, ship hardware maker Raytheon Anschutz will bring a new ECDIS system to market that is lighter and cheaper than its predecessor. Designed to meet the needs of shipowners who must retrofit in order to meet the new ECDIS requirements for SOLAS-compliant ships, the new system has all the functionality of Raytheon Anschutz' ordinary system but can be mounted on any surface in the bridge. "The idea is it's a component that's easy to install," said Axel Schaab, head of product management for Raytheon Anschutz in Kiel, Germany.
