Kongsberg sees the 'full picture'

Kongsberg Maritime has secured a $23M order via international tender to install its fully-integrated navigation and automation systems on board 14 newbuild tankers for BP Shipping. The crude/product tankers will be constructed by STX Offshore and Shipbuilding for delivery by September 2016. The 'full picture' integrated vessel control systems cover navigation, communication, and machinery and propulsion systems automation. A monitoring and gauging system based on advanced radar technology will be installed, as well as a vessel performance system designed to monitor and provide decision support on energy efficiency, fuel usage, and optimal sailing.
