Three dead in Toamasina oil theft

Three people died and four remain in a critical condition after being asphyxiated while stealing oil from a pipeline in Toamasina port, Madagascar. On the night of 22 and 23 June, the seven men cut a hole in a pipeline that runs from the port to the Galana refinery. They installed a valve to enable them to siphon off fuel, filling 200-litre drums inside a container. Once all 70 drums had been filled, the container was to have been driven away.
