The chemical tanker Maritime Maisie has been offered a port of refuge in the South Korean port of Ulsan, the vessel's manager, MSI Ship Management, has told IHS Maritime. The IMC-owned vessel was in danger of breaking up after colliding with car carrier Gravity Highway on 29 December last year. Maritime Maisie was fully loaded with 29,337 tonnes of paraxylene and acrylonitrile when the accident happened. All 91 crew members on Maritime Maisie and Gravity Highway were rescued. Both ships caught fire and about 4,000 tonnes of the 44,404dwt chemical tanker's cargo were lost in the fire. Subsequently, tidal currents pulled the 2003-built Maritime Maisie into Japan's waters, where it was held in place by Nippon Salvage's tugs.
