BW safety key is 'just culture'

While human errors are the cause of more than half of maritime accidents, BW Group focuses on the broad picture and not punishing seafarers for perceived mistakes. The Singapore-based group owns and operates more than 120 tankers transporting oil, refined products, chemicals, and liquefied gas. Like most operators, BW Group has suffered accidents, but a representative of the company's in-house technical management firm, BW Fleet Management, told IHS SAS how it had adopted the concept of'just culture' in its investigation and incident review system.
