Much more than an LSA seller

SHM Shipcare, a family-run business with a heritage of more than a century in marine safety, has been expanding from its base in Mumbai, India. The company counts the Indian navy among its clients and says it differentiates itself by working with customers to not only use lifesaving appliances (LSAs) correctly but also to implement efficient evacuation procedures. Besides being one of India's biggest domestic manufacturers of LSAs, SHM Shipcare also distributes LSAs manufactured by Umoe Schat-Harding, Viking and Fujikura. Its assistant general manager for sales and marketing, Chetan Athaley, told IHS SAS, "We want to create a safe and secure environment that enables businesses to operate safely at sea and on shore. Our belief is that we succeed only when our customers succeed." SHM Shipcare was founded by its chairman, Saifuddin Hajee, in 2001.
