Last year saw the introduction of new Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW) training regulations with regard to high-voltage training for marine engineering and electrical specialists. The regs reflect the changing nature of marine power and propulsion systems, and stipulate that training on high-voltage plants is conducted using real equipment. The challenge for training system manufacturers, therefore, is to be able to integrate the real gear with existing simulation systems.
