Investigators analyse El Faro recordings

Equipped with 'black box' recordings of the last words of the captain and crew of the lost American ship El Faro, a joint US investigative panel on 6 February marked the first anniversary of its hearing with questions for the head of safety of Tote Maritime and a former chief engineer of the ship. El Faro, operated by Tote, a Saltchuk company, was lost in Hurricane Joaquin just east of the Crooked Islands in the Bahamas on 1 October 2015. Twenty-eight American crew and officers plus five Polish nationals on a 'flying work crew' perished.
