IMarEST to support training in Singapore

The Institute of Marine Engineering, Science, and Technology (IMarEST) is to support the training and professional development of maritime professionals at the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), under a recently signed agreement. According to a joint statement, MPA and IMarEST aim to develop skills and retain maritime talent in Singapore by creating more pathways for professional development and recognition. "This will benefit marine surveyors and marine hydrographers in MPA, as well as offshore and shorebased maritime professionals," IMarEST said. Maritime professionals, including former seafarers but also those without seafaring experience, will be able to continue their professional development through two routes. One will be an MSc/ BSc jointly offered by IMarEST and Plymouth University in the UK, through distance and online learning. The second route will be through Chartered Status under the IMarEST banner, which can be a stand-alone course or taken with the degree programmes.
