ACHIEVEMENT IN TRANSPORT & LOGISTICS

Building a new railway across London, on the scale and complexity of the Crossrail project, poses an enormous logistical challenge and demands a ground-breaking approach to health and safety, as well as transport and logistics. As part of its 'Target Zero' campaign Crossrail runs several logistics initiatives to minimise risks associated with large goods vehicles working on the project. Initiatives devised to reduce the risk of collisions and raise road-safety standards in the construction industry included translating road-safety information into 12 languages, holding legal awareness seminars, the introduction of driver attitude and behaviour research, and a lorry-driver training programme. A big part of this training was cycle awareness, in line with the London mayor's cycling revolution policy.
