Small firms are the backbone of the British economy because they contribute significantly to national wealth and employment. But raising awareness of workplace-health issues and changing behaviour among small firms is hardly the simplest of tasks. Nevertheless, an initiative developed in Scotland aims to do just that.Health risks at Work: Do You Know Yours? aims to reduce uncertainty, build confidence and improve risk-control outcomes in small and medium-sized organisations. According to the Risk and Regulation Advisory Council (RRAC), what is required for small firms is a holistic approach that tackles the influences of all the health and safety risk actors, stretching beyond traditional government boundaries in order to reduce uncertainty.
