How did you get into health and safety? As a machine operator at a production facility, a misguided approach to health and safety by a manager resulted in my hand being injured in a machine. I decided at that point maybe I could make a difference by learning what 'should' be done as opposed to people's own interpretations. After trying to gain further information I was advised to not question health and safety on site so I joined the union. I could use the funding they had available to further my knowledge through union courses. After a while, I moved into a warehousing role and became an onsite trainer.
