IOSH president Tim Briggs recently visited Oman where he was a key speaker at the Arab state's electricity and water conference. During the event, the Institution's president said every organisation must do a risk assessment when it comes to the safety and health of its employees as it is an efficient tool to manage the business and prevent damage to reputations. "Though taking risk is at times rewarding, there is always a perceived danger. We need to make a choice whether to be on the safe side or danger side. We need a risk intelligent society rather than a risk adverse society or a society where people put themselves in danger because they don't understand risk," Tim Briggs said in his keynote presentation on "Risk assessment - is it just common sense?"
