IOSH international officer Laurence Dufour was one of four judges at an inter-schools' French debating competition recently. Ratcliffe College in Leicestershire hosted the contest involving pupils from across the Midlands, with Repton School in Derbyshire judged the overall winner. French speaking Mr Dufour said: "The students were assessed on content, speaking skills, language, star quality and team work. The standards were very high and they showed a good grasp of French." A talk from East Midlands Conservative MEP, Emma McClarkin, gave the youngsters an insight into the opportunities available to language graduates, who are currently in demand in the European Parliament.
