HSL's first 2016 GRIP ratings awarded

The Health and Safety Laboratory has announced the first of 2016's GRIP ratings for safety footwear. This means that buyers will have a greater choice of footwear that has been scientifically tested and rated for slip resistance, enabling them to identify the most appropriate safety footwear for their working environment. Recent HSE statistics reveal that over 50 per cent of major injuries are the result of slips, trips and falls. Introduced in 2014, the GRIP rating scheme helps companies minimise the risk of slipping accidents. Businesses that adopted GRIP-rated safety footwear have already reported that incidences of slip-related accidents have since fallen dramatically.
