Buncefield oil depot explosion lessons examined

Safety experts discussed the lessons learnt in the ten years since the Buncefield oil storage depot explosion at a recent IOSH-hosted event. Forty-three people were injured in the explosion at the Hertfordshire depot on 11 December 2005, with the incident dubbed Britain's most costly industrial disaster at the time. Atthe meeting, IOSH's Chiltern Branch looked back at events with the help of some of those who were tasked with dealing with both the explosion and the aftermath.
