摘要

The principal possibilities and limitations of introducing unipolar space charge into the free atmosphere in the form of atmospheric ions of given mobility are analyzed. The conclusion is drawn that, along with the known mechanisms of space charge evolution (wind, turbulence, natural ionization, electric field), the important factors are the unipolar ion charging of background aerosol particles and the drift of originating heavy ions in their own electric field.
