Electrocatalytic Hydrogenation of Nicotine

摘要

Electrocatalytic reduction of the nicotine alkaloid in the presence of skeletal nickel catalysts was studied.Natural nicotine,the main alkaloid contained in tobacco (2-10 wt % in a plant),is an (S)-isomer [1] and acts as an exceedingly strong poison upon the peripheral and central nervous systems.
