Humic Acids as Efficient Catalysts for Disproportionation of Peroxide in Alkaline Solutions

The influence of sodium salt of humic acids on the reduction of Chrome Green Anthraquinone dye with thiourea dioxide under aerobic and anaerobic conditions was studied.Sulfur-containing reductants,sodium ditionite Na_7S_2O_4(DTN),sodium hydroxymethanesulfinate HOCH_2SO_2Na(HMS),and thiourea dioxide(NH_2)_2CSO_2(TUDO),are widely used as reductants of vat dyes.The reduction of vat dyes with HMS can be substantially accelereated with catalysts,among which the most commonly used are cobalt dioximates and anthraquinone derivatives.
