Synopsis of Developments in the FAA Part 135/125 Aviation Rulemaking Committee's: Rotorcraft Working Group February 2004 Meeting

As most of you are already aware, on February 12, 2003, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced the comprehensive regulatory review and rewrite of Parts 135 and 125. In 2003, the Aviation Rulemaking Committee (ARC) group held two meetings and thus far this year the group has met twice with two more meetings scheduled in August and November. HAI has been actively involved and will continue to participate in this important Federal regulations rewrite process. At a preparation meeting in February HAI staff proposed that the Part 135/125 ARC group provide the avenue for reviewing the FAA's Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) on National Air Tour Safety Standards (NATSS), instead of the FAA's proposal of creating yet another section of the Federal Aviation Regulations. The proposal received positive responses from members.
