LASER HEATED CATHODE BREAKDOWN

摘要

Laser light incident on cathode surface can be used as a valuable tool at low pressure arc discharge ignition. The dependence of the breakdown voltages on various parameters are given for N_2, CH_4, as well as for N_2 + CH_4 mixtures as filling gases. Peculiar behaviour of the laser sustained discharged is observed for low pressures.
