Hunter Completes Deer Valley Upgrade

The battle for clean drinking water is a continual one, and nowhere more so than in Phoenix, where every drop of water is precious. In an effort to stay on the cutting edge of water treatment, the city's 150-million-gal-lon-per-day Deer Valley water treatment plant, built in 1964, is implementing the final phase of a Regulatory Compliance Excellence Program. Hunter Contracting Co. of Gilbert, Ariz., is general contractor on the approximately $5.1-million project to construct upgraded chemical facilities and a new filter backwash pump station designed by the Phoenix office of Wilson & Co. Engineers and Architects. The Hunter/Wilson team was also responsible for the $29.8-million fourth phase project that saw new sludge handling facilities constructed at the plant.
