According to Scott F. Sibley, chief, USGS Mineral Commodities Section, preliminary numbers indicate that crushed stone production in the third quarter of 2011 increased 14 percent over the second quarter of 2011; although it decreased 2 percent in the third quarter of 2011 over the third quarter of 2010. Construction sand and gravel in the third quarter of 2011 increased 7 percent over the second quarter of 2011; although it decreased 6 percent in the third quarter of 2011 over the third quarter of 2010.
